24th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum
17-21 January 2016

Speakers' Message

It is our pleasure to invite you to join us for the 24th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), which will be held in the spectacular natural setting of the city of Vancouver, Canada, from January 17 to 21, 2016.

For the 24th Annual Meeting, we propose that an overarching theme – Strengthened Partnerships for Prosperity, Security and Growth, guide our discussions and hopefully lead to a signed resolution. The Canadian Parliament is also proposing that a new component be added to the first day of the Conference’s program, a meeting of Women Parliamentarians, to take place in the morning of Sunday, January 17, 2016.

Sessions will conclude with an optional excursion to the year-round resort of Whistler Village on January 21st. Located at the base of both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, Whistler was the official site of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Canada’s Parliament has always been strongly committed to the work of the APPF as the regional mechanism for parliamentary cooperation, a forum which Canada has the honour and privilege of hosting for a second time.

We look forward to welcoming you to Canada for the 24th Annual Meeting of the APPF and trust that our website will help you plan your participation.

The Honourable Leo Housakos
Speaker of the Senate of Canada
The Honourable Andrew Scheer
Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada
