Resolution on Fostering of Human Resources and Active Utilization of the Abilities of Women for the Sake of Economic Growth

THE TWELFTH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ASIA PACIFIC PARLIAMENTARY FORUM (APPF):

Noting that amid a deepening economic interdependency within the Asia-Pacific region, overall steady economic growth is being achieved;

Emphasizing that for the sake of sustainable growth within the region, the fostering of outstanding human resources and utilization of the abilities of women are extremely important; and

Underlining the need for each nation in the Asia-Pacific region to make further efforts to enhance its education system and make active use of the abilities of women;

RESOLVES TO:

1. Call upon APPF countries to radically promote the development of the basic education that will lead to expansion of the basic human resources pool and the improvement of the higher education required to produce highly creative human resources so as to realize sustainable economic growth;

2. Call upon APPF countries to steadily rectify various factors serving as impediments to the employment of women so as to accelerate development of the regional economy through active use of the entrepreneurial spirit and abilities of creative women; and

3. Call upon APPF countries to engage in the international cooperation necessary to enhance education, especially education of women, in each country in the region and to actively make use of the abilities of women.
