Resolution on the Exchange of Information and Expertise Between and Among Members of the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Dealing with Corruption, with the end in View of Strengthening Their Individual and Joint Capabilities in Dealing with the Same

APPF07/RES/11

(submitted by the Philippine Delegation)

The Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum,

Convinced that corruption in government and in business has become a serious threat to the political and social order;

Aware that public denunciations in the media, and actual court charges against suspects have failed to reduce the misuse of government funds, the perfection of questionable contracts, the non-performance of publicly funded projects;

Concerned that the spiral of corruption could lead ultimately to the destruction of democratic government, if not civilized society itself;

Confident that only through adequate reform can governments begin to adequately combat the rise of corruption in their respective environments;

Resolves,

As it hereby resolves, to exchange information and technical expertise between and among its members in dealing with corruption, with the end in view of strengthening their individual and joint capabilities in dealing with the same.
